With Love From Both Of Us

Hello everyone.

Yes, we know it's Friday and early for our usual post, but as it is Valentine's Day here in the UK, Beverley and D wanted to wish you all lots of love today and thank you for your support as our blogging and visiting friends.

St Valentine's Day is celebrated by those who wish to celebrate it on 14th February each year. The day chosen to celebrate Valentine's Day in the Eastern Orthodox church falls on the 6th July.

Valentine was a priest who lived in 3rd-century Rome and was martyred during the rule of Claudius II. Many stories and legends concerning Valentine exist, one of which suggests that before his execution, Valentine wrote a letter to the daughter of his jailor, whom he had converted to Christianity, signing it 'Your Valentine'.

The celebration of love on St Valentine's Day has evolved over the centuries into the cultural, religious and commercial activity it is today.

If you are celebrating, we hope you have a wonderful day. If it is just another day, may it also have been a happy day for you.

We looked around the house to find a few heart-felt items and found these.

Cards we made in a crafting session.

Cross stitch ' Heart of the Home'

This was a garland of crochet hearts and flowers placed all around the ceiling of Bev's craft room. Although each heart is stuffed, inside each one are the names of family and loved ones.

Finally, here is a delicious cheesecake we made for someone we love very much.

Have a lovely weekend, everyone, and enjoy what you do.

Beverley and D

    1. Glad you enjoyed the hearts post, Jan. The garland was made several years ago not long after I lost my mum and it holds special memories of those dearest to me. The cheesecake is delicious but I am
trying to ignore the calorie content for a day or two. Sunshine this week would be lovely. Hope it shines in your corner.

    1. Hello Ivy. Normally we make a conventional cake for Valentine's day but cheesecake is my hubby's favourite. So how could I refuse! Hope you enjoyed your day too :-)

    2. I totally get that. I recently bought a new spring form pan to make hubby one as well. Though he can't have dairy so it'll be a non-dairy "cheese" cake. Still fun!

Weekend started off wonderful and then he got sick. He's on the mend now.

    1. Thank you, Chris. I enjoy making cards but I don't make them as often as I used to. I still enjoy giving and receiving a homemade card. Our son and his wife visited this afternoon so we were able to share some of the cheesecake with them. Ther's not much left now sadly.

  7. It looks like you had a wonderful Valentine's Day... yes, such a small cake is a must for this day.
And I love the hearts/flower garland as well as the “Heart of the House” cross stitch.
Best wishes to you - have a good rest of the winter. It's over 10 degrees below zero today and the snow is glittering in the sun. I'm happy... very happy :-)))
And I wish that for both of you... you three :-)))

  12. So many different hearts, I love to hear the story of Valentine. When my 2 boys were at the primary school, the head used to tell the tale each year.

It had been many years since I last heard the story of brave and faithful Valentine and it was good to be reminded of him on our visit to St Albans.
