Hello everyone.
How has your week been?
D and I had a lovely week while she was on a half-term break from work. On Monday, we visited Hereford Cathedral, Mappa Mundi and the Chained Library. D and I had a fantastic day later in the week doing some girlie clothes shopping, and she also made a very yummy chocolate cake.
While it looks like I'm skipping over the week very quickly, I wanted to tell you about today was our trip on Saturday to Barnsdale Gardens and Nursery in Oakham, Leicestershire. I will fill in the details of the rest of the week another time.
Hubby and I have visited these gardens several times before and always feel inspired. It was the first time D had visited, and she was thrilled with all the gardens she saw.
Barnsdale belonged to my all-time favourite gardener, Geoff Hamilton. Between 1979 and 1996, he was the lead presenter on BBC Gardeners' World, and presented several other short gardening series during his lifetime. He was known by many as the 'Gardener of the People' and was always finding cheap and easy ways of gardening that anybody could try in their own gardens. I met him once, and he was a lovely person. He sadly passed away after a charity bike ride in 1996, but the wonderful gardens at Barnsdale are his legacy and inspiration to future generations.
