Cookies, Cheesy Crumbles and a Tea Party

Hello everyone.

D and I do enjoy your company and hope you will stay for a bite to eat this week! 😀

D has been baking again this week, making some chocolate chip and fudge cookies. As she had little time to spare, she used a prepared mix and added the fudge pieces to the recipe. She made nine cookies, but as you can see, they disappeared very quickly.

Not to be outdone by my daughter, I also put on an apron and spent time baking tea party nibbles. I made cheese and spring onion crumbles, perfect for various dips.

I first saw the recipe on Lucy from Attic 24's blog quite a few years ago, and I have loved it ever since. The original recipe used walnuts, but I have never used them myself. I used spring onions this time, but I have used chives instead. Another alternative I will try next time is cheese and chilli and also cheese and chutney.  They will be fun to try for the festive season!

Last week, I mentioned that Hubby and I visited a favourite garden centre to get a few new plants. As we walked through the entrance, we were met by sparkles, baubles, and trees everywhere. While it is far too early to think seriously about December, one display caught my attention. I thought ending this week's post with part of the Mad Hatter's tea party from the book Alice in Wonderland was fitting. With those empty plates, it looks like all the treats have disappeared as quickly as they do in this small corner.

D and I hope you have a lovely week ahead and that you enjoy some fun treats, both edible and non-edible.

Have fun.

B and D

  2. The chocolate chip and fudge cookies and the cheese and spring onion crumbles look good ... I am sure they all disappeared quite quickly!

What a lovely Mad Hatter's tea party display that is :)

Enjoy the coming week, hopefully the strong wind and rain many experienced today will have passed over and we can enjoy some sunshine.

    My good wishes.

    All the best Jan

    1. Looking at the forecast it's looking much better for the next few days, Jan. I hope the weather is the same for you too. The cookies and crumbles always disappear very quickly, almost before they are out of the oven. The tea party display at the garden centre made me smile too.

    1. Those crumbles are a favourite and I should bake them more often. Unfortunately they would disappear just as quickly.
Have a good week yourself, Janice.

  4. Both cookies and crumbles look delicious, no wonder they don't stay on the plate for long, I expect the dormouse would get out of his teapot to try a few of those:)

    1. Aww, thanks Rosie. They are very quick to make but even quicker to disappear :-)
I'm sure the dormouse would be very quick to clean up the plates for us :-)

  5. I do like the sound of those crumbles. My favourite recipes are those which I've discovered on blogs over the years. There must have been something in the air, as I baked cookies this week, as well. X

    1. Those crumbles are delicious, Jules. Trying out variations is fun too. A big thank you to everyone who has encouraged me to try a new recipe after reading their blog.
Maybe there is something in the air or perhaps there is a need for cosiness and comfort as the nights draw in.

  6. There's always tasty treats to be seen which make my mouth water when I visit your blog. I do like the sound of the cheese and spring onion crumbles, but who can resist a cookie, not me!

    1. The crumbles are very quick and easy to make which Is why I enjoy making them so much. D is so good with her cookie making that is difficult to choose between the cookie and the crumble. My hubby says he is happy to accept both if they are on offer!

    1. I'll let D know you are looking for cookies and crumble :-)
The tea party table stood out more to me because everything else was covered in full on Christmas ! It was pretty though and I do have a few of those cake stands myself.

  8. Thanks for the visit - and the cookies do make you want to linger longer:) We have a garden center near us that puts together beautiful and extrvagant holiday displays and vingette (did I spell that correctly)? I don't think they are out yet but, then again, I have not been too recently. It might be time!!:)

    1. I haven't seem many other displays like that one yet but I'm sure there will be plenty more popping up in garden centres, shopping centres and other places too in the next few weeks. Maybe I will get my camera out and look for a few more to share. Have a good new week, Jennifer x

    1. A good batch of cookies never last long and the sad faces when the last one is eaten mean another batch is eagerly awaited. :-)

  10. Oh how nice - tea time :-))
Now I'm back home and drinking coffee. But when I was in England this summer we only drank tea - and it was delicious. Beautiful pots, beautiful cups and fine pastries... and the breakfast was really great.
Now I feel like eating cookies too when I see your wonderful cookies. And I'll try these savory ones with cheese too...jes Alice at the Hatter's Tea Party...
    it is so nice.
    Thanks you very much.
    Best regards.

    1. I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay in England and enjoyed afternoon teas and breakfasts too. The crumbles are very easy to make and I'm sure you will enjoy them.
It's half term holidays for D so she may make some more cookies this week while she is at home.
      Have a great week x

  11. I don't bake, but love the sound of your onion cheese nibbles. They look and sound really good. I've seen some Christmas decorations up already and it makes me shake my head. Wayyyyyyyyy too soon. Perhaps I could dunk one of those cookies into my warm cup of coffee. Sipping, as I make me blog rounds.

    1. Each year it seems that Christmas starts earlier and earlier. Like you I think It's way to early in October.
Cookie dunking sounds a perfect way to spend some time enjoying a cup of coffee. Enjoy your next cookie and think of us :-)
