Hello friends,
Earlier in the week we discovered an old game that had been lost in the time warp of the loft. We are still trying to get as much as possible out of the loft, and this week, it has been sorting out the toys and games.
Ker-plunk is described as a game of skill involving marbles and long, thin sticks stuck in a cylinder. The aim is to remove the sticks without allowing the marbles to fall. We found that it is a very short game. However, the most challenging task, which requires the most patience, is inserting the sticks into the plastic at the start of the game. D and I discovered we had no patience for this task and happily watched Hubby do it. Getting the game out and having a final play was fun, but it will be finding a new home.
Further investigations in the loft revealed another childhood favourite, 'Frustration' with its pop-a-matic dice. We all enjoyed this game, so it will join us for a few sessions before we decide its final destination. The space in the loft is growing and so far nothing has been returned which is really good news
It is also the Easter weekend, and D and I have been enjoying a little crafting. This is our Easter tree. Although we bought some of the eggs, we decoupaged some ourselves. D painted a Spring design on a rock, and my Easter cross stitch sits at the base of the twiggy tree.
Have a good week!

Happy Easter! I remember Kerrplunk, never had the patience either. Cx
ReplyDeleteHope you had a lovely Easter weekend, Christina. We are replaying Frustration and Guess Who next as they were also hidden in the loft. We have so much more space now !
DeleteGreat games! Happy Easter!
ReplyDeleteIt's been fun rediscovering games that we played years ago. Hope the weekend has been a relaxing Easter one for you.
DeleteYour Easter Tree is lovely, and the decoupage eggs look so great. I didn't even put one up this year, never mind :)
ReplyDeleteGoing through the games and toys must have been very nostalgic. The old ones are the best. Frustration is still very popular.
Happy Easter to you and your family! Xx
I was pleased with the way the tree worked out. A lot of the eggs were bought cheaply but I liked the Spring colours. I planned to do more wool wrapped eggs but time beat me. Tonight we are playing the Frustration and maybe Guess Who? Happy Easter to you and your family xx
DeleteThat's such a pretty Easter tree. Happy Easter to you and yours.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Janice. Hope you have had a lovely Easter weekend with family .
DeleteI can remember enjoying playing Frustration!
ReplyDeleteI do like your Easter Tree it looks very nice.
I've enjoyed seeing family this Easter Weekend.
Sending Happy Easter wishes to you.
All the best Jan
I'm glad you were able to enjoy sharing the Easter weekend with family.
DeleteI do like our Easter tree and will add a few more items to the egg collection for next year.
Tonight we are playing Guess Who. I wonder 'who' will be champion of that game?
Your Easter tree is lovely. It sounds as if you have had fun playing all those games before passing them on. Enjoy the rest of the Easter break:)
ReplyDeleteIt was fun to get out some of the old games. We played Frustration last night which we all enjoyed and it was easy to set up and put away again. D and I also played a quick game of snakes and ladders. D is the champion. I like the Easter tree very much too and the pastel colours of most of the eggs. There are still a few empty twigs so I may add a few more items next year.
DeleteYour Easter tree 🌳 is lovely. Thanks 😊 so much for the memories. I am a baby boomer but for.some reason I don't remember Kerplunk. I do remember Spirograph, pick up sticks, yoyos, Slinky and Snakes 🐍 and Ladders 🪜 though. Love ❤️ your posts.
ReplyDeleteGlad you liked the Easter tree, Linda. It's fun to share some of those baby boomer toy/game memories. We did have some great stuff didn't we. I never quite mastered the yoyo though.
DeleteThank you for your lovely comments x
I hope you had a lovely Easter. Your little tree is lovely, so pretty filled with all those pastel coloured eggs. I still love all those childhood games, though most of ours are long gone. I've got Jack though now so it won't be long until I'm playing them all over again.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jo, yes we did have a lovely Easter weekend. Glad you liked the tree. We only kept a few games but the rediscovery in the loft brought a few more smiles to the weekend for us. I wonder which game Jack will enjoy playing first with you.
DeleteI hope you had a nice Easter weekend as well. Kerplunk...now that brought back some memories. That was always a favorite around here but have not seen/thought about that game in decades. Cool!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Jennifer we had a lovely Easter weekend. It was fun to play Kerplunk again and some of the other childhood games. I'm glad we kept a few of them to enjoy one more time.
DeleteKer-Plunk and Tiny Tears, thank you for the memories. Lots of fun with them and other toys back including Pippa Dolls, in the 70's growing up. I remember having a dainty small china tea set to play with. I hope you have a lovely Easter x
ReplyDeleteWe did have some great toys didn't we. I'm glad this post bought back some fond memories for you.
DeleteAnd yes, we had a lovely Easter, thank you x
Fun that y'all are giving these games another go. Even if they're frustrating. Sounds fun still.
ReplyDeleteIt was good to play them again and now they will be finding new homes to spread the fun a little further.
