Upcycling and Card Craft

Hello everyone.

I hope you have all had a good week.

The weather has changed again, and we have had more rain this week. Sleet is on the way, and possibly a touch more snow to finish the month. With this sort of weather, it's no surprise I have been infested with some nasty germ bugs this week. They probably hopped across from D, who has also been suffering in the same way. I can't wait for some Spring weather to arrive.

We have still managed to be creative this week, though.

This was an old unit we had, and we have decided to paint it up, along with another similar unit, to form a new base for my dolls' house. The colour is the same one we have used as a feature wall in the living room.

These are the painted units, just waiting for us to move the dolls' house.

While hubby has been dealing with the units, I have been getting on with making some cards for charity. They are based on some designs from old Craft Creations magazines, which are now discontinued.

I have a few jobs to get on with in the garden this week, if the weather holds out, and I'm also feeling the need to crochet again.

Whatever your plans, stay warm, and I hope the bugs stay away from you all.

Take care

B x

    1. Thank you, Angie. It is quite a change for me to go for a darker colour like that, but it works really well.
Card making seemed like a good idea with the weather being so dismal at the moment. I shall make a large batch before sending them off to the charity.
I did manage to get in the garden for a while today and that made me feel so much better. I shall keep an eye on the weather and get out when I can now.

  2. My crafting mojo has gone, I'm reading loads and popping into the garden on dry days. Your cards are beautiful.

    1. I'm dragging my mojo out of the back of the cupboard😊. At the moment I have the crochet blanket to get on with, that I started last year. It is keeping my knees warm while I work on it. There are also things to be pottering with in the garden, so I shall do those when weather permits. Thank you for your kind comment about the cards, Marlene.

  3. Those are cute cards, what a lovely idea for a new arrival. Hope you manage to get out in the garden this week, it's thick of fog here today with no sign of it shifting.

    1. Thank you, Rosie. I feel better today and spending some time outside blew a few germs away.
Our son will be coming over as soon as he is free to help move the house as it is very heavy.
I enjoyed making the cards last week and it was good to use some of my huge card stash for a good cause.

    1. Thank you, Jan. There does seem to be a fair few germs around at the moment but hopefully they won't linger for long.
It was good to get back to some card making and use up some of the card stash I still have.
The added advantage of the newly painted units is that now I have extra storage as well as a new base for the dolls house.
Enjoy the rest of your week, whatever the weather brings.

  7. The colour of your new doll's house base is really nice, calming. I admire you for having the energy to be crafty even when the germs pass through your home. Cx

    1. Using the same colour on the units as one of the walls seems to have worked well.
I needed something to take my mind of my germs and last week it was cards. This week the crochet has made an appearance. Germs are on the way out now! 😊

  8. Hello! I hope you and D are feeling better. I just love the dollhouse base unit's blue color. We are expecting very cold weather and snow this weekend, and I'm not exactly looking forward to it. Like you, I'm so looking forward to spring and warmer weather. Have a great day!

    1. Thank you, Julia. Some germs are still hanging on but both D and I are feeling better than a few days ago. It looks like it might be wet over the next few days but not snow thank goodness. Stay warm and safe and enjoy the rest of your week.

    1. Hello Denise. D and I are feeling much better thank you and hubby does seem to have avoided this round of germ bugs. 😊 Glad you liked the cards. I have a few more to make in the next few weeks ready for giving to the lady from the charity. Yesterday we moved the dolls house onto the painted units, so I will be posting a view of that on the next post.
Enjoy the coming week whatever you are doing.
