Hello everyone. I'm back again for the final stop of our trip around the world.
We spent only a few days in Vancouver before we travelled home, so we tried to take in as much sightseeing as we could.
On our first day, we visited Gastown to see the steam-driven clock. The clock was built in 1977 and incorporates a steam engine and electric motors. Every quarter of an hour, the clock emits a whistle, and then on the hour, it plays part of 'Westminster Chimes'.
If you are there at 12 noon, visitors are treated to a full rendition of the 'Westminster Chimes' , complete with all the steam—a fascinating piece of technology.
As we had braved the views from several towers during our holiday, it only seemed right to finish with one in Vancouver. The following photos are therefore from the top of the Vancouver Lookout. I'm done with high towers for a while now, but I have to admit the views were amazing.
While we were in the park, we also visited 'The First Nations Totem Poles' at Brockton Point, which represent many indigenous people.
And so our travels ended on this mammoth adventure. We arrived home safely, bleary-eyed and longing for sleep. Normality is returning along with the new adventures of retirement. What will come next? Who knows.
Thank you to everyone who has visited this small corner over the last few weeks. I hope you enjoyed our big adventure.
Now, it is on to Christmas. Have a good week, everyone x

Fabulous to read this and see all these amazing photos! Thanks again for taking us along, an absolutely grand adventure! ReplyDeleteWe certainly enjoyed Vancouver in the Autumn. It was a beautiful place to visit.
DeleteIt has been good to look back at all the photos we took and try and organise the memories.
Lots of time to plan for next year, but maybe not such a grand adventure.
We loved a wander in Stanley Park, and were amazed to see the black squirrels!
ReplyDeleteStanley Park is so vast and a lovely place to wander around. The black squirrels were fun to watch.
DeleteBeautiful photos. ❤️ The squirrel and totem pole are amazing.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Linda. Glad you enjoyed the photos.
DeleteThe totem poles are a very popular site to visit in Vancouver and the squirrels were very cute.
Lovely to read your post and see your photographs.
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing trip and adventure you've had.
What next I wonder?
Perhaps just relax and enjoy the season ... plenty of time to decide and plan what you would like to do in 2026.
Enjoy your weekend and the coming week.
All the best Jan
Thank you.😊What next indeed! We are leaving new holiday plans to the New Year but I'm sure that whatever we do will be fun. For now, I'm enjoying the Christmas season like you suggest.
DeleteLove the steam clock and those black squirrels. There is nothing like seeing these things in real life. Have a good rest now before your next adventure.
ReplyDeleteI loved the steam clock in Vancouver, such a delightful piece of technology.
DeleteWho could not love the cheeky black squirrels, so full of energy as they darted about the parkland.
I will try with the resting but there is always something to do. I will just try to do it at a slower pace. 😊
How wonderful, steam clocks, black squirrels and beautiful views, a great ending to your adventures:)
ReplyDeleteAt the end, we were both very tired but we had had a fantastic extended holiday with lots of wonderful memories.
DeleteWhat an adventure you have had! Thanks for sharing it all. xx
ReplyDeleteThank you, Joy.
DeleteWhat an adventure it was! 😊
What wonderful views you've had of the world on this trip, but that view over Vancouver is amazing. I've thoroughly enjoyed reading about your travels, so many memories made on this trip, I'm sure. Time to plan the next one now haha.
ReplyDeleteI'm really glad you enjoyed sharing the journey with me over the last few weeks. It has been a lot of fun rembering all those wonderful places. No firm plans yet for next year yet, just a few ideas to mull over the next few months. Have a good week.
DeleteWonderful adventure you had. Great shots too. Love the black squirrel. So cute.
ReplyDeleteHi Ivy. It was a great adventure for us and we loved every minute of it. So many good memories and the photos will help us to remember all those special moments. The squirrels were very cute and just as cheeky as any other squirrels.
DeleteHave a great Christmas x
Cheeky is an excellent way to describe them.
DeleteHappy Happy Christmas!
❤️
DeleteI love looking down at cities, seeing tiny buildings surrounded by modern aller ones. A black squirrel that's a first for me.
ReplyDeleteThe only other black squirrels we have seen were over 30 year ago when we were on the other side of Canada, in Toronto. A lot of fears had to be conquered to stand on that reinforced glass plate and look down on the tiny world below. The views were incredible though.
DeleteHave a great Christmas. x
Great totem pole! The black squirrel is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting Back2oursmallcorner and your kind comment. Wishing you all the best for the season and for Christmas if you celebrate it.
