Hello everyone. I'm back again for the final stop of our trip around the world.
We spent only a few days in Vancouver before we travelled home, so we tried to take in as much sightseeing as we could.
On our first day, we visited Gastown to see the steam-driven clock. The clock was built in 1977 and incorporates a steam engine and electric motors. Every quarter of an hour, the clock emits a whistle, and then on the hour, it plays part of 'Westminster Chimes'.
If you are there at 12 noon, visitors are treated to a full rendition of the 'Westminster Chimes' , complete with all the steam—a fascinating piece of technology.
As we had braved the views from several towers during our holiday, it only seemed right to finish with one in Vancouver. The following photos are therefore from the top of the Vancouver Lookout. I'm done with high towers for a while now, but I have to admit the views were amazing.
While we were in the park, we also visited 'The First Nations Totem Poles' at Brockton Point, which represent many indigenous people.
And so our travels ended on this mammoth adventure. We arrived home safely, bleary-eyed and longing for sleep. Normality is returning along with the new adventures of retirement. What will come next? Who knows.

How lovely. My niece lives in Vancouver - it is a beautiful place. Time now to put your feet up, cherish your memories and plan your next trip.

Lots of time to plan for next year, but maybe not such a grand adventure.
We loved a wander in Stanley Park, and were amazed to see the black squirrels!

DeleteWho could not love the cheeky black squirrels, so full of energy as they darted about the parkland.
I will try with the resting but there is always something to do. I will just try to do it at a slower pace. 😊

What wonderful views you've had of the world on this trip, but that view over Vancouver is amazing. I've thoroughly enjoyed reading about your travels, so many memories made on this trip, I'm sure. Time to plan the next one now haha.

DeleteI love looking down at cities, seeing tiny buildings surrounded by modern aller ones. A black squirrel that's a first for me.
ReplyDeleteThe only other black squirrels we have seen were over 30 year ago when we were on the other side of Canada, in Toronto. A lot of fears had to be conquered to stand on that reinforced glass plate and look down on the tiny world below. The views were incredible though.
