Hello everyone. I hope you have had a good few weeks since we last met here.
Thank you for all your kind wishes while hubby and I were away on holiday. Your messages that D posted were very welcome and appreciated.
This holiday, we spent it in Rhodes, and it was much more relaxing than our last trip.
It was very hot during our stay, so we made the most of the hotel facilities and the sunny weather.
This photo made me smile as it's not often that you see an empty poolside like this. To be fair, this photo was taken after 6pm when the pool is closed. It was also the view from our balcony.
This was the other view from our balcony.
We took a stroll along the beach front and admired some of the harbour sights.
The hop-on/hop-off bus allowed us to see more of the island and enjoy better views from some of its higher points.
The beach across the road from the hotel was pebbly but the sea water was warm and inviting.
Mandraki harbour is the historic port where the legendary Colossus once stood. Today, two toering stone columns are topped with a stag and doe.
We also visited the Old Town of Rhodes and wandered around the cobbled streets. The Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage site and has a wonderful mix of cultures: Byzantine, Crusader, Ottoman and Italian architecture.
Sitting in the hotel restaurant enjoying our meals each evening, we were treated to the most spectacular sunsets.
It was a wonderful, relaxed holiday that both hubby and I enjoyed, and when we finally arrived home and had some sleep, I ventured back into my garden to see how things had been growing. This is just a little of the food bounty I found.
Wherever you are, I hope you are well and that you will have a good week ahead.
Take care x

Beautiful photos. ❤️ Thank you so much for sharing this lovely tour. It has been hot 🔥 🥵 😫 and humid here in Montreal.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Linda. We had a great time just chilling and enjoying doing very little. The weather was very hot which we are not used to but we enjoyed plenty of cool drinks, a little sun and plenty of shade. Hope it wasn't too hot and humid for you in Montreal.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely week.
I love your garden goodies and super cool on the photos. Glad to read that you're both well. Here's to a kickbutt good week. Cheers, lvy.
ReplyDeleteThe fruit and veg tasted delicious when we used it and there is so much more to pick now. I'm hoping for a good week although things might be slow here as I hurt my back on Wednesday moving some furniture around. Silly me. I never learn!!
DeleteNoooo. So sorry you hurt your back. That's not fun at all. Sending healing wishes!
DeleteI have started some exercises and I'm sure it has helped the healing process . ❤️
Delete❤️❤️❤️❤️
DeleteIt sounds like a lovely, relaxing break with a little sightseeing thrown in. The hotel looks to be in the perfect place so you could enjoy poolside or beach as took your fancy. The sunsets are amazing.
ReplyDeleteWe had a lovely un busy time away. It really was too hot to get up to our usual adventures. The hotel was excellent and the food was the best we have experienced on holiday. Each evening it was wondeful to view those sunsets as we were having our meal. Lots of people would stand on the shore line to watch and enjoy the last rays of sunlight as they disappeared behind the hills.
DeleteHow wonderful, the blue of the sea and sky and the gorgeous sunsets. So glad you had a great time:)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Rosie. It was a welcome and restful time away.
DeleteWhat wonderful photos! And coming home to produce much have felt a real welcome back from the garden. xx
ReplyDeleteGlad I could share a litttle bit of this beautiful island with you.
DeleteFruit and veg is producing very well at the moment and it looks like your garden is doing well too.
Lovely to come back and find good things in the garden. Strawberry season is so good!
ReplyDeleteIt is always a delight to grow and then eat produce from the garden. Strawberries have been very good again this year.
DeleteI'm glad you got to relax in the warm sunshine. Those sunsets look amazing. X
ReplyDeleteThose sunsets just cried out to be photographed. They were so beautiful to see each evening.
DeleteIt was a lovely chilled out holiday for us and both hubby and I enjoyed the blue skies , sun and sea.
So pleased you enjoyed a wonderful and relaxed holiday, your photographs are lovely.
ReplyDeleteSo good too that you came home to a nice garden bounty, everything looks great :)
All the best Jan
Thank you, Jan. It was a lovely holiday that hubby and i enjoyed very much. It was just what we needed. The food at the hotel was amazing and I did try lots of things I wouldn't normally try. Everything was presented well and was so delicious. Back home it was great to see how much everything had grown and picking food straight from the garden was a delight. Hope you are having a good week 😊
ReplyDeleteThank you for the wonderful photos; it's fantastic that you enjoyed such a lovely holiday. Coming home is especially nice when you're greeted by D and the beautiful fruit from the garden. This morning I opened a jar of gooseberry jam for breakfast – made with berries from the garden. Sending you a big hug and lots of love, Viola.
DeleteThank you, Viola. We had a fantastic holiday. Your gooseberry jam sounds delicious. Have a great weekend x
DeleteI'm glad you had a lovely holiday. Coming home to fresh produce from the garden was a bonus.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Janice. Rhodes was lovely and very hot.
DeleteIt's amazing how much growing happens in the garden in such a short amount of time. The ripening fruit and veg is very welcome. Have a lovely weekend.
It looks amazing and how lucky are you to have 2 holidays! Photos are fantastic, a beautiful place, And the gooseberries are more ripe than ours but we've had rhubarb every week, with home made real custard!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Chris. We had a lovely time in Rhodes although it was very hot .
DeleteHasn't rhubarb done well this year. I have had so many sticks to pull. In fact I have just picked more this morning. I am going to try to be good and not pick any more and let the plants recover for next year but I might be tempted to give it another week.
What a great holiday and then to come home and harvest the fruit and veggies. Thanks for sharing, all great photos.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Denise. We had a really good time just relaxing in the sunshine.
DeleteIt was good to get home though and see what is growing in the garden.
