Spring Cleaning! Mouse Style!

Hello and welcome to this small corner, the place that D, hubby, and I call home.

We have seen plenty of sunshine here this week, which has been lovely. There have been many tea and coffee breaks spent outside. It has been a joy listening to bird songs in the garden.

After a slow start, everything is growing quickly, and the plants are jostling for space.

As you can see, one of my favourite spots is the woodland area. It is covered with plants, and all are doing amazingly well. The ferns especially love the small amount of dappled shade the tree provides. One of the good things about this part of the garden is that the weeds stand little chance of establishing a foothold with all the other planting.

Hubby also finished the other raised bed for me this week and it now has some lettuce growing in there. I have covered it for now, as otherwise, it might make a tasty snack for the pigeons! I'm looking forward to salad from the garden.

D has also been spending more time outside and looking forward to planting new crops every day when she comes home from work. Slowly, she is learning the pleasures of gardening. Long may it continue and develop!

With all the time spent in the garden, there has been less done on general cleaning inside, so this sweet mouse has been offering her help. I wish!!

She even offered to spring clean in between the flower beds. Bless her.

This coming week, I should give her a hand: it is a lot of house for a tiny mouse to clean. The pattern is another of Jean Greenhowe's creations. Little Miss Spring Mouse will be joined by her Summer and Autumn cousins at the appropriate season. Winter mouse is snuggled away with the Christmas decorations.

Both D and I wish you a lovely week wherever you are.

  1. I love little Miss Mouse. I almost feel inspired to make one myself - but the thinking is where it usually stops . . . sigh!

    1. I'm hoping she will stay around this week as well. Housework is not my favourite thing to do, especially if the weather is good. She was a quick creature to make but I just hate the sewing up.

  3. Such a lovely post.
The weather had been so much better this past week and it is so nice to be able to sit and enjoy a cuppa in the garden, and your garden is looking good.

I think Miss Spring Mouse is so sweet, and it was very helpful of her to offer to spring clean in between the flower bed ... your fuchsia (I think it is) is a nice colour.

Wishing you a happy week ahead, and let's hope we have some more sunshie.

    All the best Jan

    1. When the sun is out , it is difficult for me to stay inside. Even just sitting outside makes me feel better. I thought Miss Mouse was very good at tidying the flowers beds. I hope she managed to sweep away all the bugs that try to nibble my plants when I'm not looking too!

    1. I think Miss Mouse would enjoy flicking her duster around somewhere new. You wouldn't need her in the garden though because your outdoor space is so lovely now.

    1. It was overcast here this morning but the sun has come out and all the washing is on the line now. I'm making the most of every scrap of sunshine. Yes, it would be lovely for all of us to have a sweet Miss Mouse who would tidy up and have everything sparkling for when we get up in the morning.
      And then the dream ended.....
      Have a lovely week.

Our garden is such a special place for me and I love being out there as much as possible. Always something to do but I love it anyway.

  8. I love ferns as they not only look good in the garden but remind me of the ones growing wild in the countryside near our home. Your little mouse is very sweet.

    1. Thank you Viola. That brings back some childhood memories of when I was a brownie. I was a girl guide for a few years as well. Everything is growing fast in the garden with all the rain we had and now the sunshine. The garden is happy and so am I .

    1. I think it is the best year so far with the ferns. I have them in the front and back gardens and they seem to be very happy where they are. It's very wet outside today so I'm giving Miss Mouse a bit of a helping hand.

    1. Hello Jennifer. Miss Mouse is touched by your kind words about her work and glad that she is appreciated :-)
The woodland area is one of my favourite parts pf the garden and as it matures less and less work is required which means I can just enjoy it.
