Flower Sunshine

Hello, everyone, and welcome to this small corner.

This week marks the start of the Summer holidays for schools in England, and D is very much looking forward to the next six weeks. We have some lovely things planned for the holiday, including a family wedding and other holidays.

Also, the sun has been out this week. It was very hot for two days, but it was enjoyable all the same. The forecast suggests that there will be more dry and sunny days ahead, so D and I are sharing some flower sunshine with you all.

I finished the little scissor-keeper this week. It was hard work on the eyes at times, and a magnifying glass will be on my next present list. However, I was pleased with the result and now my embroidery scissors should be easier to find :-)

Both D and I hope the weather is kind to you wherever you are in the world and you have a good week.

Take care

B and D xx

    1. Thank you, Janice. I know D is looking forward to her holiday time away from school.
I needed some good light to work on the cross stitch this week but now my scissors will be easier to locate :-) And now on to the next cross stitch project!

  2. Your sunflowers are way ahead of mine, I'm trying a red variety this year, though I don't think you can really beat the traditional yellow ones. Your scissor keep has turned out lovely, those stitches do look tiny, but beautifully neat. Wishing D a wonderful summer, I hope she enjoys the rest and relaxation.

    1. Thank you, Jo. I can see the sunflowers from the kitchen window. It looks like there might be a stray red bloom in there as well but it hasn't opened fully yet.
D says thank you and looks forward to sunny days ahead x

  3. I use the magnifying glasses from the chemist, 3.50, worn like normal glasses, I used them for years without any ill effect on my eyes. Marlene, Poppypatchwork

    1. Thanks for the tip Marlene. I'm long sighted with one eye much weaker than the other. There is quite a difference between my two eyes now but I will have a look at the chemist glasses.

The scissor keeper is such a pretty item but having a useful purpose is even better.
Have a good week whatever you are doing.

  10. Congrats to everyone who is going to enjoy their school summer holidays, and a special congrats to D. Sounds like you are going to have a wonderful time with those special happenings. Appreciate you sharing those beautiful and cheery flowers. I love the color combination! I am very impressed with your exquisite embroidery, so delicate and so handy! Our weather has gone down about 10 degrees, but our humidity is still way high, so it feels the same. Hoping for some rain today to cool things down. In the meantime, no walkies for me, lol! Another lovely blog post and hoping the weather and the week have started off well for you and D.

    1. Thank you for your kind words from both of us, Denise. A wedding, holidays and some crafting and gardening if we get the time.
My cross stitch projects don't happen too often as my eyes are starting to complain. Having said that, I have already started something else!!
It is warm today but I'm not complaining as we have had so much rain this year. We are going to make the most of any sunshine. Wishing you a perfect weather week.
      B and D :-)

  12. LOVE sunflowers. I haven't planted them in years. I have the beds full of perineals now. Nice of you to share the photo, it made me smile. What a cute scissor keeper. Cleaver idea to be able to find them easier in your sewing basket etc.

    1. The sunflowers are multi- headed ones which are amazing. Some of them are in slight shade so will flower a little later. I have already started making good use of the scissor keeper so that was a useful project to have completed. At least scissors don't disappear down the side of a chair anymore!
